FORBES HELPS ANCHORMEN BREAK 4x200M RECORD
AT SOUTHERN MAINE INVITATIONAL

Gorham, Maine-Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) finished first in the 55m hurdles (8.06) and helped the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field squad set a program record in the 4x200m relay at the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Forbes placed second in the high jump (1.83m), sixth in the 200m (23.45) and teamed up with junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI), freshman Jarell James (Providence, RI) and freshman Clarence Walker (Brockton, MA) to break the previous program record in the 4x200m relay with a first place time of 1:34.40.

Amado also took second in the in the long jump (6.35m) and third in the 200m (23.05).

 

Senior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) took first place in the mile with a time of 4:33.20, while senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished third in the 1,000m (2:37.18).

 

Freshman Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed second in the weight throw (14.49m) and fourth in the shot (11.60m), while freshman Michael Pecchia (Warwick, RI) placed third in the shot (12.52m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 12 (10 a.m.).
