LEAZES & MCCUTCHEON LEAD ANCHORWOMEN
AT PLYMOUTH STATE DOUBLE DUAL MEET

Plymouth, N.H.-Sophomore Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI) set a pair of program records, while freshman Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) established two more, as Rhode Island College dropped both ends of a double dual meet at the PSU Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen (1-3) fell to Plymouth State, 70-62, and then dropped a 75-60 decision against Bridgewater State.

 

Leazes led the way for RIC with a record-breaking time (2:32.90) and a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Leazes followed with a first place finish in the 200-yard IM thanks to a record-breaking time of 2:27.28. She also placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:50.50).

McCutcheon established another Rhode Island College record with a first place time of 11:26.36 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She also earned first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.12), which was another program record, and the 500-yard freestyle (5:35.48).

 

 

 Freshman Marykate McCutcheon

 

Junior Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) placed first in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.71) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.03), and also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.57).

 

Freshman Emily Thompson (Cumberland, RI) placed first in both the 50-yard freestyle (28.04) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.34), while also placing third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.63).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in a dual at Husson University on Saturday, Jan. 19 (1 p.m.).
