STADNICK WINS 1,000M & MILE AS ANCHORMEN TAKE HOME COAST GUARD INVITATIONAL TITLE

New London, Conn.- Senior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) earned a pair of first place finishes to lead the Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen placed first with a score of 127. Coast Guard finished second with a score of 122, while U.S. Merchant Marine Academy finished third with a score of 116.

 

Stadnick placed first in both the 1,000m (2:36.88) and the mile (4:33.90) to pace the Anchormen, who totaled nine first place finishes on the day.

Senior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) took first place in the 3,000m (9:03.19) and placed third in the 1,000m (2:40.61).

 

Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned a first place finish in the 200m (23.96) and the long jump (6.32m). Forbes also finished second with a new program record in the 55m hurdles (7.96) and third in the 55m (7.00).

 

Junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) took first place in the triple jump (13.82m), while freshman Joel Ikuejamofo (Providence, RI) finished first in the 400m (51.81) and placed third in the 200m (24.39).

 

Senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) placed first in the 600m (1:25.13), while freshman Kenny Bouchey (Cornish, ME) earned a first place finish in the 800m (2:07.99) and finished fourth in the 55m hurdles (9.04).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 19 (10 a.m.).
