BRABOY WINS THREE EVENTS AS ANCHORWOMEN PLACE SECOND AT COAST GUARD INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.- Sophomore Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) earned a trio of first place finishes to lead the Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field team at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen placed second with a score of 113. Coast Guard won the event with a score of 167, while U.S. Merchant Marine Academy finished third with a score of 45.

Braboy took first place in the long jump (4.68m), the triple jump (10.61m) and the 600m (1:41.58), while also placing second in the 55m (7.75).

 

Freshman Jaimee Dorsey (East Greenwich, RI) finished first in both the 55m (7.63) and the 800m (2:28.44), while also placing fifth in the long jump (3.95m).

 

Freshman Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) finished first in the 200m (27.89), second in the triple jump (9.69m) and third in the long jump (4.53m).

 

Freshman Florraine Lapotry (Cumberland, RI) placed first in the 400m (1:07.86), while freshman Chelsea Combs (Ashford, CT) took second in the 800m (2:41.18).

 

Sophomore Chelsea Key (Putnam, CT) placed second in both the long jump (4.58m) and the 200m (29.32), while also finishing fourth in the 55m (8.19).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 19 (10 a.m.).
