GREG O’CONNOR NAMED ASSISTANT
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT
AT RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College has named Greg O’Connor as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development.

 

O’Connor will oversee game-day marketing, sponsorships and promotions for each of RIC’s 19 intercollegiate varsity sports and will lead the Rhode Island College athletic department in its effort to increase fundraising. O’Connor will also serve as a liaison with the Anchor Club, the college’s athletic booster club, to build corporate partnerships with local businesses.

 

“I’m very excited to join the athletic department at Rhode Island College,” O’Connor said. “This institution has a great reputation throughout the region because of its academics, athletic programs and quality staff. I’m looking forward to enhancing the student athlete’s experience here.”

 

 

 

O’Connor earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management after graduating from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2004. After spending 2003-04 with the Boston Celtics media relations department, O’Connor served as the assistant sports director for the Hockomock Area YMCA in North Attleboro, Mass. from 2004 to 2008.

 

O’Connor went on to serve as the sports director for the Hockomock Area YMCA in Foxboro, Mass. from 2008 to 2012. O’Connor directed all aspects of the sports department’s day-to-day activities, including fund raising, special events as well as the organization of all youth and adult programming such as leagues, tournaments and camps.

 

A native of Cumberland, R.I., O’Connor graduated from Cumberland High School in 2000 where he was a standout on the basketball, baseball and golf teams. He currently resides in Cumberland.
