BRIDGES TAKES FIRST IN THE ALL-AROUND AS ANCHORWOMEN FALL TO SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT

Providence, R.I.-Sophomore Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) posted a trio of team-high scores, including a pair of top-five scores on bars and floor, as the Rhode Island College women’s gymnastics team lost to Div. II Southern Connecticut State University, 185.500-167.350, at The Murray Center on Saturday night.

 

Owls’ (1-0) freshman Nicole Pruchnik (Rochester, MA) recorded the night’s top score with a 9.750 on floor, while also registering the top score on beam (9.475) and a second-place finish (9.550) on vault. Junior Gabriella Hude (Plantation, FL) posted the top score on bars with a 9.275, while senior Rebecca Brady (Hampstead, NH) posted the top score on vault (9.600) and also finished in a tie for third on floor (9.525).

 

Bridges registered a score of 34.775 to place first in the all-around for RIC (0-1), while finishing fifth on bars with a team-high score of 8.800. Bridges finished in a tie for fifth on floor with a team-high score of 8.700 and finished sixth on vault with a team-high and season-high score of 9.225.

Junior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) totaled a score of 8.600 to lead RIC on beam with a sixth-place finish. Sophomore Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA) also impressed with a seventh-place score of 9.150 on vault and a score of 8.300 on beam.

 

For the Owls, sophomore Meghan Cole (Jackson, NJ) finished in a tie for second place with a 9.550 on vault and a posted a second-place score of 9.100 on bars, while freshman Meagan Puccio (Ridge, NY) posted a third-place score of 9.500 on vault. Sophomore Chelcie Rosborough (Severn, MD) tallied a third-place score of 9.525 on floor and finished second on beam with a 9.325, while junior Brianna Ecklof (Howell, NJ) registered a second-place score of 9.575 on floor.

 

Meanwhile for RIC, freshman Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA) was solid on vault with a score of 9.050 and also posted a score of 8.600 on floor. Senior Melanie Goes (East Providence, RI) recorded a season-high 8.975 on vault, while freshman Cherise Lee (Burlington Township, NJ) posted a score of 8.900.

 

Junior Caitlin Elliot (Marlton, NJ) finished with a score of 8.550 on floor and an 8.350 on beam, while sophomore Jamie Krywinski (Toms River, NJ) also impressed on floor with a score of 8.400.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Wilson for a competition with Brockport State on Saturday, Feb. 2 (1 p.m.).
