Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College has named Justin Sjovall as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Club Sports.


Sjovall will oversee all aspects of sports medicine at Rhode Island College and will help lead the college’s effort to enhance its athletic programs by continuing to provide more athletic training services for student athletes. 


“I am excited to join the RIC athletics staff,” said Sjovall. “It's an ideal position for me and I'm eager to provide a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to enhance our programs.”




Sjovall will also be responsible the organization of club sports at Rhode Island College, providing structure and stability to the college’s growing number of club sports teams.


After earning a master’s degree in sports administration from the University of Minnesota in 2003, Sjovall spent 10 years as the Head Athletic Trainer at North Park University in Chicago, where he was responsible for the oversight of all athletic training services.


Before earning his master’s degree, Sjovall earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from South Dakota State University in 2000 and also interned in the athletic training at the Northwestern University.


A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Sjovall currently resides in North Providence with his wife Alison and their two daughters, Maggie and Becca.
