KANNO BREAKS TWO PROGRAM RECORDS
IN, 119-88, LOSS TO EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Willimantic, Conn.–Junior Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) broke two of her own program records on Saturday as the Rhode Island College women’s swimming team closed out the regular season with a loss to Eastern Connecticut, 119-88.

 

Kanno finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.81 to break her own program record, and did the same in the 50 butterfly after finishing in third place and recording a time of 29.44. Kanno also finished first in the 50 breaststroke (34.72).

 

Freshman Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) earned a pair of first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:04.47) and the 500 freestyle (5:33.94), while sophomore Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI) finished first in the 100 IM (1:11.20).

Freshman Emily Thompson (Cumberland, RI) notched a pair of second place finishes in the 50 freestyle (27.58) and the 50 backstroke (31.89).

 

Sophomore Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA) finished second in the 50 breaststroke (38.94).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the N.E. Intercolleigate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on Feb. 8-10 in White River Junction, Vermont.
