SAUCIER AND OCEL STAND OUT
IN, 187.675-162.775, LOSS TO BROCKPORT

Chambersburg, Penn.-Junior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) led the Anchorwomen with a season-high score of 9.175 on beam as the Rhode Island College gymnastics team fell to Brockport State in a tri-meet at Wilson College on Saturday.

 

Rhode Island College (0-2, 0-1 ECAC) posted a score of 162.775, while Brockport State finished with a season-best score of 187.675 to seal the victory. Only one gymnast competed for Wilson College, which finished with a score of 30.275.

 

Saucier recorded the high score of the day for the Anchorwomen on beam to finish fifth, while also tallying a season-best score of 8.450 on floor. Sophomore Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA) impressed on bars with a team-high score of 8.900 to finish fourth, and also finished with a team-high score of 9.025 on vault to finish sixth.

Sophomore Jamie Krywinski (Toms River, NJ) posted a team-high score of 8.725 on floor to finish sixth. Freshman Cherise Lee (Burlington Township, NJ) finished seventh on vault with a score of 8.925, while senior Melanie Goes (East Providence, RI) followed on vault with a score of 8.800.

 

The Golden Eagles posted season-best scores in three out of the four events on the day, led by sophomore Olivia Sylvstro (Palm City, FL), who won both the floor and vault with scores of 9.675 and 9.6235, respectively.

 

Sophomore Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA) had a strong day for Brockport State, scoring a 9.550 on the vault and a 9.575 on the floor. Meanwhile, senior Kelcie Morris (Hagerstown, MD) scored a season-best 9.700 on beam to finish first for the Golden Eagles. Junior Casey Addis (Williamstown, NJ) won bars with a score of 9.400.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Brown University Quad on Sunday, Feb. 10 (1 p.m.).
