AMADO EARNS All-N.E. HONORS IN THE TRIPLE JUMP AS MEN'S TRACK PLACES 19th

Lewiston, Maine-Junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the triple jump with a third place finish (13.82m) as Rhode Island College placed 19th (22 teams) at the 2013 N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Bates on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen totaled a score of 13.0. MIT won the championship with a score of 118.50.

Amado also placed 12th in the long jump (6.25m) and joined seniors Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI), Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) and Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) for a seventh place effort in the distance medley relay (10:29.37).

 

Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned All-New England honors in the heptathlon by placing fourth with a score of 4499. He also placed 13th in the 60m hurdles (8.70) and joined freshman Jarell James (Providence, RI), sophomore Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI) and freshman Joel Ikuejamofo (Providence, RI) for a ninth place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:28.08).

Stadnick placed 15th in the 800m (2:00.23), while McCloskey took ninth in the mile (4:20.12). Freshman Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed 12th in the weight throw (14.41m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2013 N.E. Open Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
