THREE ANCHORWOMEN QUALIFY
FOR NCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Cherise Lee Named ECAC Rookie of the Year

Cortland, N.Y.-Rhode Island College sophomores Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) and Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA), along with junior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI), have qualified for the 2013 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships in their respective events after their performances at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Women's Gymnastics Championships on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen finished sixth (six teams) with a season-high team score of 175.625. Brockport State won the championship with a score of 190.775. Host Cortland State (188.125), Ursinus (185.725), Springfield (184.625) and Ithaca (183.950) rounded out the top five.

 

RIC freshman Cherise Lee (Burlington, NJ) was named the ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Year.

 

 

Sophomore Cory Bridges

 

Bridges will head to the NCGAs and compete on both vault and bars. She qualified as an individual competitor on bars a year ago as a freshman.

 

 

 Sophomore Jessica Mushinsky

 

Mushinksy will be making her first appearance at the NCGA Championships and will compete on floor. Saucier will also make her inaugural trip and see action as a beam specialist.

 

 

 Junior Courtney Saucier

 

As a team, RIC totaled a score of 44.675 on vault, 41.425 on bars, 44.250 on beam and 45.275 on floor.

 

Bridges placed 22nd on vault (9.175), 16th on bars (9.125), 33rd on beam (8.475) and 32nd on floor (8.925) for a seventh place all-around (35.700) effort.

 

Mushinsky placed 31st on vault (9.000), 33rd on bars (8.075), 13th on beam (9.325) and 22nd on floor (9.250) for an eighth place effort in the all-around (35.650).

 

Saucier tied for 27th-place on beam (8.900) with sophomore Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA). Saucier also finished 29th on floor (9.000). Ocel tied for 26th on vault (9.125) and 25th on bars (8.750).

 

 

Freshman Cherise Lee

 

Lee placed 30th on vault (9.025).

 

The NCGA Championships will be hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater on March 21-23.
