BRIDGES & SAUCIER CLOSE OUT THE SEASON
AT 2013 NCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Whitewater, Wisc.-Sophomore Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) placed 20th on bars, while junior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) finished 38th on beam, as both gymnasts wrapped up competition at the 2013 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday and Saturday.

 

The top 14 on each event advance to the second day of competition on Saturday. Both gymnasts were selected as individual event specialists from the East Region.

 

 

 Sophomore Cory Bridges

 

Bridges posted a season-high score of 9.150 on bars to finish tied for 20th among a field of 57 competitors, missing the cut by just six spots. She finished with the same exact score last year at the NCGAs, which was the top performance on bars by a RIC gymnast at the NCGA Championships since Shannon Hughey’s 14th-place effort in 2002.

 

Saucier posted a score of 8.750 to finish in a tie for 38th on beam among a field of 57 competitors.

Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team wrapped up the 2013 season with a 0-8 overall record and a 0-5 mark vs. Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III competition. The Anchorwomen posted a season-high score of 175.625 at the ECAC Championships on March 10 to finish in sixth place. It was the highest score for the team since the 2012 ECAC Championships, when RIC posted a score of 175.425.
