ASIEDU & MOURA EARN WEEKLY
LITTLE EAST MENíS SOCCER HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI) and freshman goalkeeper Chris Moura (Rumford, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

 

Asiedu was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute and the game-winning goal in the 95th minute to lift the Anchormen to a 3-2 overtime victory vs. Bridgewater State on Sept. 18.

He also scored the lone goal in RICís, 1-0, victory over UMass Dartmouth in the Little East Conference opener on Sept. 21, connecting on a free kick in the 33rd minute.

 

For the season, he has played in eight games, starting all of them. Asiedu has six goals and one assist for a team-best 13 points.

 

Moura was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week. He made two saves against the Bears and turned away a career-best 12 to earn his second collegiate shutout against the Corsairs.

For the season, he has played in seven games, starting all of them. Moura is 4-1-2 with a .797 save percentage and a 1.37 goals against average.

 

Head Coach John Melloís team is 5-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Little East. In upcoming action, RIC will host Framingham State on Tuesday, Sept. 24 (6 p.m.).
