ASIEDU NAMED ECAC NEW ENGLAND OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

 

Asiedu was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. He scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute and the game-winning goal in the 95th minute to lift the Anchormen to a 3-2 overtime victory vs. Bridgewater State on Sept. 18.

 

 

 

He also scored the lone goal in RICís, 1-0, victory over UMass Dartmouth in the Little East Conference opener on Sept. 21, connecting on a free kick in the 33rd minute.

 

For the season, he has played in nine games, starting all of them. Asiedu has six goals and one assist for a team-best 13 points.

 

Head Coach John Melloís team is 5-2-2 overall and 1-0 in the Little East. In upcoming action, RIC will resume Little East Conference action at Western Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 28 (6 p.m.).
