AMBARI KNOCKS DOWN SEVEN KILLS
IN, 3-0, LOSS TO ST. JOSEPH'S (ME)

Standish, Maine-Sophomore right side hitter Adriana Ambari (Beacon Falls, CT) posted a team-high seven kills for Rhode Island College as the Anchorwomen fell, 3-0, to St. Joseph’s (ME) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Harold Alfond Center.

 

It was the fifth straight win for St. Joseph’s (7-1), who stormed past Rhode Island College (0-11) in the first set, 25-10, before prevailing, 25-16, in both the second and third sets. The Monks tallied a whopping 16 service aces as a team on the day. 

 

Ambari finished the match just kill shy of tying her season-high and also chipped in with a pair of digs. Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) totaled four kills and a service ace for the Anchorwomen, while senior middle hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) notched two kills, a service ace, and a team-high eight digs.

RIC utilized two setters on Saturday, as sophomore Emma Cajthaml (El Cajon, CA) handed out eight assists to go along with five digs for RIC, while classmate Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) handed out seven assists to go along with five digs and three kills.

 

Sophomore middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, NH) led the Monks with seven kills, four digs, and four blocks, while senior libero Erica Russi (Debary, FL) led the team in digs with nine.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College hosts Lasell College on Tuesday, Sept. 17 (6 p.m.).
