VAZQUEZ & CUMMINS TAKE HOME INDIVIDUAL TITLES
AS RIC TRACK FINISHES FIFTH AT COAST GUARD

New London, Conn.- Sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) and freshman Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) each picked up a of first place finish to carry the Rhode Island College menís outdoor track & field team at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen finished fifth overall (12 teams) with a score of 45.50. WPI won the meet with a team score of 147.50.

 

Cummins took first place in the hammer (51.97m) and added sixth place finishes in both the shot (12.21m) and the discus (33.08m).

Vazquez placed first in the high jump (1.93m) and posted a sixth place finish in the triple jump (11.96m).

 

Junior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) placed third in the 110m hurdles (15.49) and fifth in the high jump (1.83m).

 

 

Sophomore Edward Cummins

 

Freshman Drew Sutherland (Plymouth, MA) placed seventh in the shot (11.93m), while sophomore Jack Covino (Cumberland, RI) placed eighth in the hammer (40.91m).

 

Freshman Isaiah Wooden (Seekonk, MA) took sixth place in the long jump (5.85m), ninth in the triple jump (11.40m) and 15th in the 110m hurdles (1:03.59).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Invitational on Saturday, April 5.
