Gorham, Maine-Freshman Kyle Curley (Gorham, ME) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles to highlight a 9-0 win by the University of Southern Maine Huskies menís tennis win over the Rhode Island College Anchormen in a Little East Conference match on Saturday at the Gorham High School Courts.


With their eighth straight win, Southern Maine improves to 8-2 overall and remains undefeated in the Little East Conference at 3-0. The loss drops RICís record to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the Little East.


USM led from the start, sweeping doubles play before grabbing the win. Sophomore Tyler Adams (Buxton, ME) and junior Scott Gagne (Lewiston, ME) led the Huskies at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 win over the RIC tandem of senior Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) and freshman Troy Derrick (Rumford, RI).


Adams earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to pace the Huskies in singles play along with Curley, while sophomore Max Wilkey (Cape Elizabeth, ME) knocked off Derrick at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College hosts Western Connecticut on Tuesday (3 p.m.) in a Little East Conference match at the RIC Tennis Courts.
