FORBES AND VAZQUEZ BREAK RECORDS AT BROWN INVITATIONAL

Providence, R.I.-Junior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) and freshman Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) each established new program records to carry the Rhode Island College menís track and field team at the 2014 Brown University Invitational on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Forbes took first place in the 110m hurdles with a record-setting time of 15.02 and also finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.28.

 

Meanwhile, Vazquez won the high jump with his record-setting mark (2.05m).

Sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) took second in the hammer (52.86m), fifth in the shot (12.21m) and eighth in the discus (38.98m).

 

Freshman Isaiah Wooden (Seekonk, MA) finished third in the long jump (6.06m), while senior Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished fourth in the 5,000m (16:58.37).

 

 Sophomore Christian Colavecchio (Foster, RI) placed sixth in the javelin (47.48m) and 11th in the hammer (38.65m). Senior Mike Farias (West Greenwich, RI) finished sixth in the long jump (5.64m) and 20th in the 200m (24.46).

 

Sophomore Jack Covino (Cumberland, RI) took seventh in the hammer (43.68m), while freshman Drew Sutherland (Plymouth, MA) placed seventh in the shot (11.11m).  

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College is set to compete at the 2014 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College, on Saturday, April 19 (10 a.m.).
