RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT RAISES

FUNDS FOR CANCER AWARENESS

Providence, R.I.-On behalf of the Rhode Island College Athletic Department, senior Stephanie Prusko (Lincoln, RI) of the women’s basketball team and freshman Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) of the men’s basketball team presented Dr. Anthony Mega and Dr. Jodi Layton of the Miriam Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center with a check for $2,000 during a donation ceremony held on April 18.

The funds were raised during this year’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Day held this winter. Through the sales of Anchor Strong bracelets, pins, and “play for the cure” t-shirts at the men’s and women’s basketball games, the Rhode Island College Athletic Department raised $2,000 to help support cancer research at Miriam Hospital in Providence.
