TAGGART & KIM WIN AS ANCHORMEN
FALL, 7-2, TO UMASS DARTMOUTH

Providence, R.I.-Freshmen Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI) and Seongkyeong Kim (North Providence, RI) won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, as the Rhode Island College men's tennis team lost to UMass Dartmouth, 7-2, in Little East Conference men's tennis action on Thursday afternoon.

 

The Corsairs (3-7, 2-3 LEC) swept all three doubles matches as senior Matt Bejtlich (Rochester, MA) and sophomore Dan Chouinard (Westport, MA) combined for an 8-4 victory at the top doubles spot.

Junior Ray Lawton (Fairhaven, MA) and sophomore Jake Joskolka (Mattapoisett, MA) won, 8-6, at second doubles, while junior Malcolm Neville (Foxboro, MA) and sophomore Andrew Burdick (Dartmouth, MA) combined for an 8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.

 

Bejtlich (6-1, 6-2), Chouinard (6-4, 6-4) and Lawton (6-4, 6-2) each secured straight set wins at No. 1-3 singles.

 

 

 Freshman Seongkyeong Kim

 

Taggart outlasted senior Jonathan Reagan (Franklin, MA) at fourth singles for the Anchormen (5-7, 2-3 LEC). After dropping the opening set, 6-1, he rebounded with 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) decisions. Kim won at fifth singles in straight sets (6-2, 7-5).

 

Neville rounded out the singles action by winning the first and third sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) at No. 6 singles.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference play at home against UMass Boston on Saturday, April 26 (1 p.m.).
