Providence, R.I.-Junior Sean Raudonaitis (Westport, MA) won at No. 6 singles, and paired with freshman Seongkyeong Kim (North Providence, RI) for an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, but those would be the lone highlights as Rhode Island College wrapped up the regular season with a 7-2 loss to UMass Boston in Little East Conference menís tennis action on Monday afternoon.


UMB (8-8, 5-1 LEC) took two of three in doubles action as seniors Charles Cullen (Medway, MA) and Charles Lai (Boston, MA) defeated RIC (5-8, 2-4) senior Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) and freshman Troy Derrick (Rumford, RI), 8-3.


At No. 2 doubles, Beacon seniors Eglis Bizhoti (Kucove, Albania) and Mark Grinhaus (Scarsdale, NY) downed RIC sophomore Tim Holzinger (Foster, RI) and freshman Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI), 8-3, to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.

After winning the first set, 6-3, Raudonaitis had to battle back from a 6-2 loss in the middle frame to defeat UMB senior Lyle Analetto (Belmont, MA), 1-0 (10-7) for RICís lone singles win.


Cullen dropped just one game (6-0, 6-1) in a win over Werchadlo at No. 1 singles, while Lai was perfect (6-0, 6-0) in his victory at second singles.


Bizhoti (6-2, 6-4) and freshman Jack Wang (Suzhou, China), 7-5, 6-1, each won in straight sets at third and fifth singles, respectively, while Grinhaus needed three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) to hold off Taggart at No. 4 singles.


In upcoming action, fifth-seeded Rhode Island College will open 2014 Little East Conference Menís Tennis Tournament play at fourth-seeded UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, April 29 (3 p.m.).
