BARRETTE BREAKS RIC RECORD
AT N.E. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Westfield, Mass.-Freshman Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) established a new program record with a third place finish in the hammer to lead the Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team at the 2014 New England Open Championships, hosted by Westfield State on May 9-10.

 

The Anchorwomen finished in a tie for 31st overall (39 teams) with a score of 6.0. The University of Rhode Island won the meet with a score of 77.

 

Barrette finished third in the hammer (51.49m) and topped her own program record in the hammer along the way.

Junior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) finished 15th in the triple jump (11.31m) and 18th in the 400m preliminaries (58.72).

 

Sophomore Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) finished 17th in the long jump (5.06m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2014 ECAC Div. III Championships, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on May 15-16.
