FORBES WINS 400M HURDLES AT
ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Troy, N.Y..-Junior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) took first place in the 400m hurdles to help carry the Rhode Island College menís track and field team to a 14th place finish (57 teams) at the 2014 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Thursday and Friday.

 

The Anchormen totaled a team score of 21 to finish in the top 15, while SUNY-Oneonta won the meet with a score of 63. It was the last regular season competition for the Anchormen, who are expected to send several competitors to the 2014 NCAA Div. III Championships in Ohio next weekend.

Forbes earned All-ECAC honors after taking the title in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.48. Forbes also placed 13th in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles (15.13).

 

Freshman Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) picked up All-ECAC honors with a third place finish in the high jump (2.06m).

 

Sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) was the third member of the squad to earn All-ECAC honors, as he finished fourth in the hammer (54.91m).

 

Sophomore Jack Covino (Cumberland, RI) placed 19th in the hammer (44.11m).
