VANDELL ANDRADE NAMED LITTLE EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College sophomore forward Vandell Andrade (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. It is the second time this season she has received this honor.

 

Andrade averaged 14 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She shot 58.3 percent (14-for-24) from the field to reach double figures in scoring in each contest.  On Dec. 10, Andrade recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 76-53 victory over Salve Regina. Four days later, she netted 10 points and pulled in a game-high 15 boards, registering her fifth double-double of the year, in a 48-30 Little East win over UMass Boston.

 

 

 

For the season, Andrade has played in nine games, starting all of them. She is averaging 14.1 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.3 bpg and 3.1 spg.

 

Head Coach Kara Williamsonís team is 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Little East Conference. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Bowdoin on Saturday, Jan. 4 (2 p.m.).
