Providence, R.I.-Senior Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) took third place in the all-around and posted a top-four finish on vault as the Rhode Island College womenís gymnastics team fell to Springfield College, 177.075-165.075, in the season opener for both squads at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III action.


Bridges posted the team-high score of the afternoon for RIC with a 9.225 on vault, good for fourth place overall. She also registered an 8.375 on floor, a 7.800 on bars and a 6.950 on beam for a score of 32.350 in the all-around.

Senior Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, CT) recorded the high-score of the day with a 9.450 on bars for the Pride, while also posting the top score on (9.375) and top-three scores on both vault (9.325) and beam (8.600). She also finished with the top score in the all-around (36.750), while junior Abby Clark (Holderness, NH) notched a score of 34.150 in the all-around. Clark posted the top score of the day in beam (9.400), while sophomore Kristin Feliu (Elkridge, MD) earned the top score on vault (9.400).


Freshman Megan McNeil (Pawcatuck, CT) paced the Anchorwomen with the teamís top score on bars (8.400) and also earned a score of 8.900 on floor, which ranked second on the squad.


Senior Fallon Connolly (Weymouth, MA) picked up a team-high score of 8.150 for RIC on beam, while senior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) posted the teamís top score on floor (9.050). Saucier also chipped in with scores of 8.650 on vault and 7.950 on beam.


Freshman Jackie Hahn (Marion, MA) impressed with a score of 8.950 on vault, while sophomore Emma Hartan (Hebron, CT) contributed with a solid showing on floor (8.775).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Div. II West Chester on Saturday, Jan. 18.
