FORBES & CUMMINS SET RECORDS AS RIC MEN'S TRACK GETS BACK TO WORK AT SOUTHERN MAINE

Gorham, Maine-Junior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) and sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) each set program records for the Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team at the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Forbes finished second in the 55m hurdles with a program-record time of 7.72, while also finishing second in the 800m (2:08.39), third in the 55m (6.88), third in the long jump (6.25m) and fourth in the high jump (1.78m).

Cummins set the program record in the weight throw (18.07m) and also finished second in the shot (12.71m).

 

 

Sophomore Edward Cummins

 

Freshman Steve Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) took first place in the high jump (1.99m).

 

Senior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) finished second in the triple jump (13.49m), long jump (6.33m) and fourth in the 600m (1:25.57).

 

Senior Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished fourth in the 3,000m (9:51.16), while sophomore Brandon Paulino (Hope, RI) finished fourth in the 5,000m (16:55.12).

 

Freshman Drew Sutherland (Plymouth, MA) earned a fourth place finish in the shot (11.43m). Freshman Justin Lucier (Attleboro, MA) took fifth place in the mile (4:50.21). 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College competes in the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18 (10 a.m.).
