BRABOY & BARRETTE WIN EVENTS AS WOMEN'S TRACK OPENS 2014 AT SOUTHERN MAINE INVITATIONAL

Gorham, Maine-Junior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) and freshman Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) each earned first-place finishes for the Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team at the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

Braboy took first place in the triple jump (10.91m), second in the long jump (5.03m), fourth in the 600m (1:45.86) and fifth in the 55m (7.90).

 

Barrette finished first in the weight throw (12.97m) and sixth in the shot (9.59m).

 

 

Freshman Destinee Barrette

 

Senior Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI) finished second in the long jump (4.84m), third in the 400m (1:06.42) and eighth in the 55m (8.22).

 

Freshman Sierra Smith (Foster, RI) finished second in the high jump (1.57m) and sixth in the triple jump (9.26m).

 

Freshman Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) took third place in the mile (5:43.99), while freshman Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) finished fourth in the 3,000m (12:18.38).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College competes in the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18 (10 a.m.).
