KANNO WINS TWO EVENTS IN LOSSES TO BRIDGEWATER STATE AND PLYMOUTH STATE

Bridgewater, Mass.-Senior Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) earned a pair of first-place finishes to help pace the Rhode Island College womenís swimming team at a double dual hosted by Bridgewater State  on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

 

Rhode Island College (0-4) fell to Bridgewater State (7-5), 168-68, and dropped its tilt with Plymouth State (2-5), 176-61.

 

Kanno took first place in the 50-yard freestyle (27.31) and the 100 IM (1:06.85), while also placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.75).

Junior Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA) finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:31.90), while also finishing fifth in the 50-yard breaststroke (40.77) and sixth in the 50-yard butterfly (35.93).

 

Junior Katherine Landry (Woonsocket, RI) finished third in the 50-yard butterfly (32.60), fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke (39.38) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.27).

 

Freshman Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) took fourth place in the 50-yard backstroke (37.19), fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.15) and sixth in the 100 IM (1:21.03).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College hosts Husson on Friday, Jan. 17 (7 p.m.).
