WOSENCROFT WINS TWO N.E. ALLIANCE TITLES FOR RIC WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Gorham, Maine-Sophomore Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) won two N.E. Alliance titles, earned N.E. Alliance honors in five events, and established a new program record in the long jump to lead Rhode Island College at the 2014 New England Alliance Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday.

 

The Anchorwomen placed fourth (10 teams) in the Alliance, which is comprised of Little East and MASCAC institutions, with a score of 75.0. Southern Maine won the title with a score of 184.0.

 

RIC placed third (six teams) amongst Little East schools with a score of 90.0. The Huskies also won the LEC title with a score of 208.50.

 

 

 Sophomore Autumn Wosencroft

 

Wosencroft set a new program record and finished as the Alliance Champion in the long jump (5.58m), while also finishing as the Alliance Champion in the 400m (57.77). She earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 200m with a second place finish (26.07) and in the triple jump with a sixth place finish (10.34m). Wosencroft was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish (4:13.32).

 

Junior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors with a secondplace finish in the triple jump (10.83m), fourth place finish in the 600m (1:39.55) and was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish. 

 

Freshman Alison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors with a fourth place finish in the 800m (2:26.39) and was a member of the 4x800m relay team that established a new program record and earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish (10:20.82).

 

Junior Jenna Pare (Tiverton, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors with a sixth place finish in the 800m (2:28.51) and was a member of the 4x800m relay team that established a new program record and earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish.

 

Freshman Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in the weight throw after finishing fourth (14.16m).

 

Freshman Jessica Trautman (Narragansett, RI) and freshman Sierra Smith (Foster, RI) were also members of the 4x400m relay team that earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish, while freshman Lauren Deguire (Blackstone, MA) and freshman Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) were members of the 4x800m relay team that established a new program record and earned N.E. Alliance honors with a third place finish.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield College, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22.
