ANCHORWOMEN WRAP UP SEASON AT NEW ENGLAND INTERCOLLEGIATE SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kingston, R.I.-Senior Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) and sophomore Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) led the Rhode Island College women's swimming team at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, hosted by the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 14-16.

 

RIC placed 17th (20 teams) with a score of 170. Keene State won the championship with a score of 1,664.50. 

 

 

 

Kanno placed ninth with a new program record in the 100-yard IM (1:03.96),  11th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.46) and 15th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.64).

 

McCutcheon placed 14th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.73) and 21st in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.53). She also placed 17th in the 100-yard freestyle (58.06).

 

The 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of freshman Jaclyn Pringle (North Providence, RI), freshman Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI), McCutcheon and Kanno placed 13th (1:52.07).

 

The 400-yard medley relay team of senior Katherine Landry (Woonsocket, RI), senior Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA), Kanno and McCutcheon placed 14th (4:42.96).

 

The 200-yard medley relay team of McCutcheon, Landry, Kanno and Pringle placed 17th (2:09.74).

 

 The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kanno, Soria, Pringle and McCutcheon placed 15th (4:06.08).

 

It was the final competition of the 2013-14 season for the Anchorwomen.
