VAZQUEZ TAKES SECOND IN THE HIGH JUMP AS
RIC MENíS AND WOMENíS TRACK & FIELD COMPETE
AT NEICAAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Boston, Mass.-Freshman Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) finished second overall and tied his own program record in the high jump (2.04m) as both the menís and womenís indoor track and field teams competed at the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Boston University on Saturday afternoon.

 

On the menís side, the Anchormen finished with team score of 10 for a 21st place (37 teams) finish overall. Southern Connecticut State won the meet with a score of 118.0.

 

Meanwhile, the Anchorwomen did not score as a team. Northeastern won the meet with a score of 115.0.

 

 

 Sophomore Edward Cummins

 

Sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) and junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) competed alongside Vazquez for the Anchormen. Cummins took seventh in the weight throw (17.60m), while Amado finished 16th in the triple jump (13.63m).

 

Sophomore Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI), junior Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) and freshman Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) competed for the Anchorwomen.

 

Wosencroft placed 11th in the long jump (5.35m) and 23rd in the 200m preliminaries (25.75).

 

Braboy took 15th in the triple jump (10.98m) and 20th in the 400m preliminaries (58.78). Barrette placed 16th in the weight throw (14.59m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Thursday, March 6 (2 p.m.).
