COURTNEY SAUCIER NAMED ECAC WOMEN'S
GYMNASTICS CO-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Nicole Tomaselli Tabbed Assistant Coach of the Year

Springfield, Mass.-Senior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Gymnastics Co-Athlete of the Year, while the league tabbed RIC Assistant Coach Nicole Tomaselli as the Assistant Coach of the Year, at the ECAC Championships on Saturday afternoon.

 

Saucier shares the honor with Springfield senior Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, CT). For the season, she has averaged scores of 8.469 on beam and 8.903 on floor. Saucier posted a season-high score of 9.225 on beam at Springfield on Feb. 22 and tied a high mark of 9.050 on floor at the ECAC Championships.

She was named team MVP and was a qualifier to the 2013 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships as a beam specialist.

 

Tomaselli takes home the top assistant award. She has helped the Anchorwomen increase their team scores over the past three seasons, which included a 176.450 at Brockport on March 2. It was the highest mark for the squad in five years.

Head Coach Bob Nannig's team placed sixth (six teams) at the 2014 ECAC Championships with a team score of 173.725. RIC wrapped up the season with an 0-8 overall record and an 0-7 mark against ECAC Div. III competition.
