JONATHAN MURRAY NAMED
NWCA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICAN

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior 125 lbs. Jonathan Murray (Brentwood, NY) was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). It is the second consecutive year that Murray has received this accolade.

 

Murray is currently competing at the 2014 NCAA Div. III National Championships, along with his brother, senior 133 lbs. Silas Murray (Brentwood, NY).

Murray is 19-4 with 38 takedowns, nine reversals, 17 escapes, 18 near-falls and four pins on the season. He took home first place at the Mt. St. Vincent Dolphin Invitational on Jan. 18 and finished third, to qualify for the NCAA Championships, at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on March 1-2.

 

Head Coach Jay Jones Anchormen finished the 2013-14 season with a 16-4 overall record and a 10-3 mark against New England Wrestling Association (NWCA) opposition. RIC finished first at the Dolphin Invitational (Jan. 18), fourth at the Springfield Doug Parker Invitational (Nov. 23) and seventh at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship (March 1-2).
