2013-14 Rhode Island College Womenís Gymnastics
Season Summary

(0-8 Overall; 0-7 in the ECAC)
Sixth Place at the 2014 ECAC Div. III Championships

Providence, R.I.-Head Coach Bob Nannigís team finished the 2013-14 season with an 0-8 overall record. RIC was 0-7 against Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III competition. 

 

Rhode Island College sent two individual qualifiers to the 2014 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, which were held at the Ithaca College on March 21-22.

 

The Anchorwomen closed out the season with a sixth place (six teams) finish and a score of 173.725 at the 2014 ECAC Div. III Championships hosted by Springfield College on March 8. 

 

Earlier in the year, RIC recorded its highest score of the season in a 190.675-176.450 loss to the College at Brockport in ECAC action on March 2.

 

RIC Assistant Coach Nicole Tomaselli was tabbed as the 2014 ECAC Assistant Coach of the Year.

 

 

 

Junior Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) closed out her three-year career as an Anchorwoman. Although she has one season of eligibility remaining, Bridges is graduating.

 

As a junior in 2013-14, Bridges placed 34th on bars with a score of 9.175 at the 2014 NCGA Championships on March 21-22. She averaged a score of 33.417 in the all-around, while her season-high score of 34.025 came at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 18. Bridges averaged scores of 9.038 on vault, 8.742 on bars, 8.383 on floor and 7.792 on beam for the season. She posted a season-high score of 9.275 on bars at Springfield on Feb. 23 and chalked up a season-high score of 9.225 on vault on two occasions. Bridges tallied a season-high score of 8.375 on beam at West Chester Tri on Jan. 18 and notched a season-high score of 8.650 on floor at home against the College at Brockport on Feb. 9. She was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week once on the season.

 

As a sophomore in 2012-13, Bridges posted a season-high score of 9.150 on bars at the NCGA Championships on March 21-23 to finish tied for 20th among a field of 57 competitors, missing the cut by just six spots. She recorded a pair of season-highs at the West Chester Quad on March 2 with scores of 9.200 and 9.050 on beam and floor, respectively. Bridges also tallied a season-high score of 9.275 on vault at Springfield on Feb. 18 and a season-high score of 35.700 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on March 10. He averaged scores of 9.184 on vault, 8.583 on bars, 8.331 on beam, 8.769 on floor and 34.797 in the all-around.  

 

As a freshman in 2011-12, Bridges was one of two gymnasts to represent the Anchorwomen at the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by Brockport on March 23. She registered a season-high score of 9.150 on bars to finish 15th among a field of 56 competitors. Her other season-highs, 9.275 on vault, 7.950 on beam, 9.025 on floor and 34.600 in the all-around, came against Bridgeport on Jan. 14. Bridges averaged scores of 9.094 on vault, 8.733 on bars, 8.638 on floor and 8.167 on beam.

 

Bridges is a 2009 graduate of Foxboro High School and a nursing major.

 

Senior Fallon Connolly (Weymouth, MA) wrapped up her four-year career at Rhode Island College. As a senior in 2013-14, Connolly was named the teamís MVP. She averaged scores of 8.508 on beam and 6.492 on bars for the season. Connolly recorded season-high scores of 8.800 on beam and 6.925 on bars at Springfield on Feb. 23.

 

As a junior in 2012-13, Connolly averaged scores of 8.175 on vault, 6.450 on bars and 8.456 on beam for the season. She notched a season-high score of 8.850 on beam at the Southern Connecticut Tri on Feb. 24 to go along with season-high scores of 8.350 on vault and 7.100 on bars at West Chester Quad on March 2.

 

As a sophomore in 2011-12, Connolly averaged scores of 8.329 on beam and 7.006 on bars. She registered season-high marks of 8.750 on beam and 7.550 on bars at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24.

 

As a freshman in 2010-11, Connolly averaged scores of 8.282 on vault, 6.404 on bars and 8.129 on beam. In her lone attempts of the season, she tallied a 7.750 on floor and a 29.200 in the all-around at the Ithaca Quad on Jan. 15. Connolly posted season-highs of 8.650 on vault, 7.100 on bars and 8.600 on beam at the ECAC Championships on March 5.

 

Connolly is a 2010 graduate of Weymouth High School and social work major with a minor of sociology.

 

Senior Caitlin Elliott (Marlton, NJ) finished her four-year career at RIC. As a senior in 2013-14, Elliott averaged a score of 8.714 on floor and 8.229 on beam. She tallied a season-high score of 9.025 on floor at home against the College at Brockport on Feb. 9 and posted a season-high score of 8.800 at Springfield on Feb. 23.

 

As a junior in 2012-13, Elliott served as a team captain and averaged scores of 8.142 on vault, 8.471 on beam and 8.819 on floor for the season. She recorded a pair of season-highs at Springfield on Feb. 18 with scores of 9.125 and 8.775 on vault and beam, respectively. Elliott also posted a season-high score of 9.175 on floor at the Southern Connecticut Tri on Feb. 24.

 

As a sophomore in 2011-12, Elliott averaged scores of 8.786 on vault, 8.719 on floor and 8.153 on beam. She tallied a season-high score of 9.200 on vault twice on the season, while also notching a season-high score of 9.200 on floor at the ECAC Championships on March 10 and a season-high score of 9.000 on beam at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24. Elliott received the ECAC Weekly Womenís Gymnastics Coaches Award once on the season.

 

As a freshman 2010-11, Elliott averaged scores of 6.385 on bars, 7.881 on beam and 8.565 on floor. She posted season highs of 6.700 on bars at Springfield on Feb. 25, 8.250 on beam at the Southern Connecticut Tri on Feb. 12 and 8.900 on floor at the ECAC Championships on March 5.

 

Elliott is a 2010 graduate of Cherokee High School and a communications major.

 

Junior Ashley Ravo (Cranston, RI) closed out her three-year career with the Anchorwomen. Although she has a season of eligibility remaining, Ravo is graduating.

 

As a junior in 2013-14, Ravo averaged a score of 7.931 on bars for the year. She picked up her season-high score of 8.550 on bars at the Brown Invitational on Jan. 26.

 

As a sophomore in 2012-13, Ravo averaged scores of 7.892 on bars, 6.850 on beam and 8.275 on floor for the season. She recorded a season-high score of 8.600 on floor at the West Chester Quad on March 2, a season-high score of 8.375 on bars at the ECAC Championships on March 10 and a season-high score of 6.850 on beam at the Wilson Tri on Feb. 2.

 

As a freshman in 2011-12, Ravo averaged a score of 7.933 on bars, while posting a season-high score of 8.600 twice on the year.

 

Ravo is a 2010 graduate and an English major.

 

Senior Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) wrapped up her four-year career with Rhode Island College. As a senior in 2013-14, Saucier was named the ECAC Women's Gymnastics Co-Athlete of the Year. She averaged scores of 8.903 on floor, 8.568 on vault, and 8.469 on beam for the season. Saucier posted a season-high score of 9.225 on beam against Springfield on Feb. 23. She recorded a season-high score of 9.050 on floor on three occasions and registered a season-high score of 8.700 on vault on two occasions.

 

As a junior in 2012-13, Saucier served as a team captain and was named the team MVP. She posted a score of 8.750 to finish in a tie for 38th on beam among a field of 57 competitors at the NCGA Championships on March 21-23. Saucier averaged scores of 8.865 on beam and 8.518 on floor for the year. She recorded a season-high score of 9.200 on beam at the Ithaca Quad on Feb. 16, a season-high score of 9.025 on floor at the Southern Connecticut Tri on Feb. 24 and a season-high score of 8.725 on vault at the West Chester Quad on March 2. 

 

As a sophomore in 2011-12, Saucier averaged scores of 8.319 on beam and 8.309 on floor for the season. She registered season-high scores of 8.600 on beam and 8.550 on floor against Springfield College on Jan. 8.

 

As a freshman in 2010-11, Saucier averaged scores of 8.150 on vault, 7.975 on beam and 8.168 on floor. She posted a season high of 8.300 on vault at Springfield on Feb. 23, and bests of 8.800 on beam and 8.425 on floor at the ECAC Championships on March 5.

 

Saucier is a 2010 graduate of Coventry High School and a speech, language and hearing science major.

 

Junior Jamie Krywinski (Toms River, NJ) averaged a score of 7.992 on floor for the season. She recorded a season-high score of 8.375 on floor at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 18.

 

Junior Ashley Mertens (Wakefield, RI) was a reserve on the team.

 

Sophomore Emma Hartan (Hebron, CT) averaged scores of 8.900 on floor, 8.663 on vault and 8.518 on beam for the year. She registered a season-high score of 9.250 on floor at the Ithaca Tri on Feb. 15, a season-high score of 9.200 on beam at the College at Brockport on March 2 and a season-high score of 8.775 on vault at the ECAC Championships on March 8.

 

Sophomore Kayla LaRoche (Millbury, MA) averaged scores of 8.600 on floor and 8.350 on beam for the season. She posted season-high scores of 8.675 on floor and 8.550 on beam at the College at Brockport on March 2.

 

Sophomore Cherise Lee (Burlington, NJ) averaged scores of 8.957 on vault, 8.242 on floor and 7.300 on beam for the year. She chalked up a season-high score of 9.100 on vault at the Brown Invitational on Jan. 26 and tallied a season-high score of 8.550 on floor at the Ithaca Tri on Feb. 15.

 

Freshman Erin Craig (Weymouth, MA) averaged a score of 8.916 on vault for the season. She registered a season-high score of 9.100 on vault twice on the year.

 

Freshman Jaclyn Hahn (Marion, MA) averaged scores of 8.816 on vault and 7.959 on bars for the year. She posted a season-high score of 9.075 on vault at the Brown Invitational on Jan. 26 and tallied a season-high score of 8.600 on bars on two occasions. 

 

Freshman Megan McNeil (Pawcatuck, CT) averaged scores of 9.009 on floor, 8.600 on beam, and 8.566 on bars. She notched a season-high score of 9.200 on floor at the West Chester Tri on Jan. 18, a season-high score of 9.075 on beam at the Ithaca Tri on Feb. 15, and a season-high score of 8.775 on bars at the Brown Invitational on Jan. 26.

 

Freshman Emily Murphy (Hampden, MA) placed 15th in the all-around with a score of 35.000 at the 2014 NCGA Championships on March 21-22. She finished 51st on vault (8.875), 45th on bars (8.900; season-high), 54th on beam (8.175) and 50th on floor (9.050).

 

Murphy averaged a score of 34.939 in the all-around on the season, while her season-high score of 35.425 came at home against the College at Brockport on Feb. 9. She averaged scores of 8.947 on vault, 8.821 on floor, 8.461 on beam and 8.358 on bars for the year. Murphy registered a season-high score of 9.150 on beam at Springfield on Feb. 23 and a season-high score of 9.175 on vault at the Brown Invitational on Jan. 26. She also recorded a season-high score of 9.050 on floor on two occasions. Murphy was named the ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Week once on the season.

 

Freshman Amanda Newton (Bellingham, MA) was a reserve on the team.
