RIC ENDS SPRING TRIP WITH, 13-2, LOSS TO RPI

Winter Haven, Fla.-Freshman catcher Tyler Rains (North Kingstown, RI) belted his first career home run for the Rhode Island College baseball team as the Anchormen wrapped up the 2014 RussMatt Invitational with a 13-2 loss (six innings) to RPI on Wednesday.

Rhode Island College will return to home with a 3-5 record overall, while RPI improves to 5-1 for the season. The game was called entering the bottom of the sixth inning due to rain.

After the Engineers plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Anchormen finally answered back in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs to make it, 4-2, thanks to a two-run homer from Rains that sailed over the left field fence and plated senior first baseman Justin Rainville (Cumberland, RI), who reached on a walk to start the frame.
