Junior forward Charissa Champagne (North Providence, RI) also scored, while sophomore midfielder Elsa Almeida (Coventry, RI) picked up an assist for the Anchorwomen (1-0).

The hosts outshot the Blazers, 24-15, which included a 14-5 performance in the second half. RIC also held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-1.

Turner put Rhode Island College on top in the 11th minute as she broke into the 18-yard box from the right side and sent in a crossing pass. The Elms defense blocked the pass, but it went directly back to Turner for the game’s first marker.

In the 34th minute, the Anchorwomen again struck as Rinaudo attempted to clear a loose ball, but her kick went directly on to the foot of Champagne, who settled the ball and drilled her first of the year into the next from 10 yards out.

Sophomore midfielder Meeghan O’Connor (Fall River, MA) helped set up Rossignol to pull the visitors within a goal in the 39th minute by carrying the ball along the goal line from the right side and sliding across a pass for the open-net strike.

RIC turned up the offensive pressure in the second half and Turner iced the contest off a nice cross from Almeida in the 83rd minute.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Curry on Tuesday, Sept. 2 (6 p.m.).
