REDDY PICKS UP SHUTOUT AT NO. 4 SINGLES
AS ANCHORWOMEN BEST CLARK, 8-1

Providence, R.I.-Sophomore Julie Reddy (Greenville, RI) and senior Chelsea Brown (Wallingford, CT) led a potent Rhode Island College squad as the Anchorwomen topped Clark University, 8-1, in a non-conference women’s tennis contest played at the RIC Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Doubles action saw the Anchorwomen (2-0) pick up two points for the match. Brown and freshman partner Kim Daigle (Sterling, MA) defeated juniors Rebecca Kravetz (Wayland, MA) and Kera Snyder (Portland, ME), 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.

 

Clark (0-2) picked up its lone point at second doubles as freshman Isabelle Long (Bellevue, WA) and sophomore Stephanie Gallant (Charlton, MA) defeated Reddy and junior Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, RI), 8-6.

Sophomores Jorgie Martin (Smithfield, RI) and Noelle Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) defeated seniors Sarah Clay (Ossipee, NH) and Leah Siegel-Reamer (Pawtucket, RI), 8-3, at No. 3 doubles as RIC headed into singles action up, 2-1.

 

Reddy dominated at No. 4 singles, posting a straight set, 6-0, 6-0, victory over Gallant. Brown posted a win at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over junior Kera Snyder (Portland, ME).

 

Campanella defeated Long, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 1 singles, while second singles saw Daigle defeat Kravetz 6-2, 6-1. Rounding out the scoring for the Anchorwomen were junior Tressa Cannata (Cranston, RI), who defeated Clay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and the match at No. 6 singles saw freshman Laura Nastasi (Smithville, NJ) defeat Siegel-Reamer 6-2, 6-1.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Suffolk on Saturday, Sept. 6 (1 p.m.).
