ADAM GHAZAL NAMED LITTLE EAST MENíS SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman goalkeeper Adam Ghazal (Pawtucket, RI) was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Goalie of the Week for his performance in a 1-0-1 week for the Anchormen.

 

Rhode Island College opened the week with a 1-0 victory over Bridgewater State on Sept. 17, before securing a 1-1 double overtime tie against LEC foe UMass Dartmouth on Sept. 20. Ghazal parried away five shots against Bridgewater State for his first collegiate shutout. The second game of the week saw Ghazal turn aside eight shots as the Anchormen opened LEC play with the extra session deadlock.

 

 

 

Allowing only one goal against on the week, Ghazal lowered his goals against average to 1.32, which ranks third in the conference. His 30 saves and .769 save percentage also rank in the top five of the league. He has played in seven games, starting all of them. Ghazal is 3-3-1 on the season.

 

Head Coach John Melloís squad currently sits at 4-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Little East action.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Framingham State on Tuesday, Sept. 23 (4 p.m.).
