COOPER EARNS MEDALIST HONORS AS
ANCHORMEN WIN BLAZERS INVITATIONAL

Providence, R.I.-Junior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) shot an even-par 72 and took home medalist honors in a field of 86 competitors at the 2014 Blazers Invitational played at the Westover Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon.

 

 

 

Cooper was joined in the top 10 by junior Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) whose eighth-place 77 (+5), helped push the Rhode Island College menís golf team to a first place finish (17 teams) with a team score of 309.

The Anchormenís 309 was three better than runner-up Castleton State. Elms finished with a 319 at their home course, which was good enough for third. The top five was rounded out by Nichols with a 323 (+35) and Westfield State with a 36-over 324.

 

Ford and Camerlengo were followed by seniors Patrick Ford (Halifax, MA) and Ryan Butler (Windham, NH) who each shot an 80 (+8). Freshman Drew Quirk (Longmeadow, MA) rounded out the RIC scoring, shooting an 83 (+11).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Westfield State Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
