ABIGAYL WHITE NAMED LITTLE EAST
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Freshman setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-0 the week for the Anchorwomen.

 

White recorded a team-high 60 assists to go along with two kills, one service ace and 17 digs on the week. She handed out 37 assists and notched 13 digs in a 3-1 victory over LEC foe UMass Dartmouth on Oct. 7. She registered a match-high 23 assists, while also tallying four digs, in a 3-0 shutout at Salem State on Oct. 9.

 

 

 

For the season, White has started in all 17 matches and 59 sets. She leads the team with 485 assists, while also tallying 23 kills, 16 service aces, 130 digs and eight blocks.

 

Head Coach Leo Bush’s team sits at 9-8 on the season and 2-1 in Little East play. The current record marks the first time since the 2011 season that the Anchorwomen have been above .500 at any point. RIC has won its last four matches.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at home against Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, Oct. 14 (7 p.m.).
