Smithfield, R.I.-Rhode Island College women’s swimming team took the top spot in all 14 events as the Anchorwomen topped the University of St. Joseph in a dual meet, 128-82, at Bryant University on Sunday afternoon.


Freshman Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished the day with first place finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke (34.97), 50-yard freestyle (27.72) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:16.72) to lead the Anchorwomen (1-0) to the victory over USJ (0-1).


Fellow freshman Taylor Ryan (Warwick, RI) took home victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.50), 100-yard freestyle (1:02.18) and the 50-yard butterfly (30.72), while junior Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:13.35) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:58.44)

Freshman Alexis Riggott (Walpole, MA) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:17.15) and the 100-yard IM (1:14.22). Sophomore Rachel Soria (Pawtucket, RI) won the 50-yard backstroke (34.41) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.66).


Freshman Samantha Roberts (Willington, CT) placed fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke (49.81), third in the 50-yard freestyle (36.22) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:48.25).


 In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Western New England on Friday, Oct. 31 (7 p.m.).
