GRANT & BOATENG EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE MENíS SOCCER HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Senior forward Sean Grant (Hope, RI) and senior back Kwasi Boateng (East Hartford, CT) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in a 2-0 week for the RIC menís soccer team.

 

Grant was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He scored as the Anchormen defeated cross-city rival Johnson & Wales, 3-0, on Oct. 28, then tallied again when RIC secured a spot in the upcoming Little East Conference Tournament by downing first place UMass Boston, 1-0, on Nov. 1. For the season, he has played in 14 games, starting four of them. He has four goals for eight points.

Boateng was named the Little East Conference Menís Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. He and is defensive mates held the Wildcats to just nine shots and the Beacons to a mere six in back-to-back shutout efforts. For the season, he has played in 15 games, starting all of them.

Head Coach John Melloís team wrapped up the regular season with a 12-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 (second place tie) in the Little East.

 

In upcoming action, fourth-seeded Rhode Island College will travel to top-seeded UMass Boston for a semifinal game of the Little East Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 5 (1:30 p.m.).
