Providence, R.I.-Southern Maine junior Tyler Adams (Buxton, ME) and senior Scott Gagne (Lewiston, ME) combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and went on to win at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to lead the Huskies past Rhode Island College, 9-0, in Little East Conference menís tennis action played at the RIC Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.


The duo opened with a shutout at the top doubles spot over RIC (1-5, 0-2 LEC) junior Tim Holzinger (Foster, RI) and sophomore Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI).


USM (7-2, 3-0 LEC) sophomore Kyle Curley (Gorham, ME) and senior Thaddeus St. John (Weld, ME) secured an 8-2 victory over freshman Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) and freshman Josh Pimentel (Smithfield, RI).


Junior Eric Berry-Sandelin (South Portland, ME) and freshman Joseph Gagliardi (Seekonk, MA) blanked, 8-0, RIC sophomore Chris Klawitter (Brooklyn, CT) and senior Brian Gil (North Providence, RI) to take a 3-0 lead into singles.


Adams downed Holzinger (6-0, 6-1) at the top singles spot, while Gagne defeated Taggart (6-2, 6-0) a flight below.


Curley defeated Tiberi (6-2, 6-0) at No. 3, St. John downed Pimentel (6-0, 6-1), Berry-Sandelin defeated Klawitter (6-0, 6-3) and junior Sebastian Taylor (Auburn, ME) downed Gil (6-3, 7-5) to round out singles action.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at Western Connecticut on Tuesday, April 14 (4 p.m.).
