Dartmouth, Mass.-The UMass Dartmouth men's tennis team swept Rhode Island College, 9-0, in Little East Conference action on Wednesday afternoon to clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2015 Little East Conference Men's Tennis Championship.


UMD (5-7, 4-1 LEC) clinched the second seed in the upcoming championships with RIC (3-7, 2-3 LEC) moving in to a fourth-place tie with Salem State.


The Corsairs raced out to a 3-0 advantage by sweeping the doubles competition. Junior Daniel Chouinard (Westport, MA) and sophomore Corey Rafter (Franklin, MA) posted an 8-3 decision at top-flight doubles, with junior Jake Jaskolka (Mattapoisett, MA) and senior Ray Lawton (Fairhaven, MA) taking an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. The third-flight tandem of junior Andrew Burdick (Dartmouth, MA) and senior Malcolm Neville (Foxboro, MA) completed the sweep with an 8-4 win.


UMass Dartmouth won three of the six singles matches in straight-sets. Chouinard did not drop a game in his (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 1 singles. Jaskolka and junior Cory Hoi (Westerly, RI) also posted straight-set victories at third and fifth flights, respectively. Lawton, Rafter, and Neville rallied from a one-set deficit to earn their singles wins.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Gordon tomorrow afternoon (4 p.m.).
