Boston, Mass.-Sophomore Chris Klawitter (Brooklyn, CT) earned wins at both singles and doubles as the Rhode Island College menís tennis team fell to UMass Boston, 7-2, in Little East action on Saturday afternoon.


UMB (5-10, 4-2 LEC) opened doubles play with senior Charles Lai (Boston, MA) and sophomore Jack Wang (Suzhou, China) topping the RIC (3-9, 2-4 LEC) duo of junior Tim Holzinger (Foster, RI) and sophomore Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI), 8-6, at No. 1 doubles.


UMB freshman Austin DeLasse (Shrewsbury, MA) and junior Greg Fleming (Harwich Port, MA) topped the RIC freshmen duo of Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) and Josh Pimentel (Smithfield, RI), 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.

Klawitter and partner, senior Brian Gil (North Providence, RI), topped Bostonís duo of senior Vlad Leopard (Carnikava, Latvia) and sophomore Wyatt Towle (Woburn, MA), 8-2, at the No. 3 flight.


Lai bested Holzinger (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 singles with DeLasse topping Taggart (6-4, 6-4) at the No. 2 flight.


Wang beat Tiberi (6-1, 6-4) and No. 3 singles and Fleming defeated Pimentel (6-3, 6-0) at No. 4.


Towle edged past Gil (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) at the No. 5 flight before Klawitter was able to fend off the singles sweep, beating Leopard (6-4, 6-2) at No. 6 singles.
