CUMMINS AND VAZQUEZ LEAD RIC AT
N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fitchburg, Mass.-Junior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) and sophomore Steve Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) each took home N.E. Alliance honors to lead Rhode Island College at the 2015 N.E. Alliance Menís Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen placed seventh (11 teams) in the Alliance with a score of 53.0. They placed fourth (six teams) in the Little East with a score of 90.0.

 

 

 Junior Edward Cummins

 

Cummins took home N.E. Alliance honors in three events. He finished first in the hammer (56.82m), seventh in the discus (40.13m) and eighth in the shot (13.39m).

 

Vazquez took home N.E. Alliance honors with a first place finish in the high jump (2.06m).

 

 

Sophomore Steven Vazquez

 

Sophomore Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events. He placed fourth in the hammer (44.78m), fifth in the shot (13.61m) and seventh  in the javelin (52.56m).

 

Senior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events. He placed second in the triple jump (14.76m) and a fifth in the long jump (6.90m).

Freshman Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) was the final Anchorman to earn Alliance honors, placing sixth in the 110m hurdle (16.17). He also placed 15th in the triple jump (12.18m) and 16th in the 400m hurdle (1:01.57).

 

 In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Championships hosted by MIT (10 a.m.).
