MATT FOLEY NAMED LITTLE EAST BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Junior catcher Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a 3-2 week for the Anchormen.

 

Foley played in five games, starting all of them. He batted .556 (10-fo-18), to go along with nine runs scored, 10 hits, six RBI, one double, two triples, one home run and two walks. Foley had his two biggest games in a Little East doubleheader sweep of Western Connecticut on April 25. In game one, Foley went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, four hits, one triple, one home run and three RBI. In the nightcap, Foley went 1-for-4 with one run scored.

 

 

 

For the season, Foley has appeared in 29 games, starting all of them. He is batting .469 (46-for-98), with 39 runs scored, 46 hits, nine doubles, three triples, nine homers and 40 RBI. He owns a .898 slugging percentage, .535 on-base percentage and a .993 fielding percentage.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team is 20-9 overall and 8-4 in Little East play. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will visit MIT on Wednesday, April 29 (4 p.m.).
