SYKORA & THOMA NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE

Providence, R.I.-Senior shortstop Katelyn Sykora (Waterford, CT) and senior first baseman Justina Thoma (Canterbury, CT) were each named Second Team All-Little East Conference for their respective performances in softball this season.

 

Sykora, who was a First Team All-LEC selection in 2014, played in 31 games, starting all of them. She batted .337 (32-for-95) with 17 runs scored, 32 hits, eight doubles, one home run and nine stolen bases. Sykora owned a .453 slugging percentage, a .427 on-base percentage and a .928 fielding percentage. She led the team with 71 assists.

Sykora wraps up her career having appeared in 153 games, starting all of them. She batted .265 (114-for-430) with 69 runs scored, 114 hits, 21 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 36 RBI and 21 steals. She recorded a .337 career slugging percentage, a .342 on-base percentage and a .936 fielding percentage. Sykora is RICís all-time leader with 381 career assists.

 

Thoma split time between first and third base for the Anchorwomen this season. She played in 32 games, starting 31 of them. Thoma batted .438 (42-for-96) with 24 runs scored, 42 hits, 16 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 26 RBI and five stolen bases. She led the team in batting average, hits, doubles, triples, home runs and RBI, while also pacing the team in slugging and on-base percentage. She established a new program record with 16 doubles this season.

For her career, Thoma played in 155 games, starting 154 of them. She batted .346 hitter (152-for-439) with, 69 runs scored, 152 hits, 37 doubles, one triple, 11 homers, 97 RBI and seven steals. She owned a .510 career slugging percentage, a .425 on-base percentage and a .950 fielding percentage.

 

Head Coach Janice DiNobileís team finished the season with a 6-26 record overall and a 2-12 (eighth place) mark in the Little East Conference.
