FIVE ANCHORMEN EARN LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL AWARDS
Foley & Rogers Named First Team;
Cummiskey & Vigeant Named Second Team;
Douglas Named Co-Rookie of the Year

Providence, R.I.-Junior catcher Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) and senior right fielder Pat Rogers (Waterford, CT), senior pitcher Dylan Cummiskey (Warwick, RI), freshman second baseman Shaun Vigeant (Coventry, RI) and freshman center fielder Brad Douglas (Wakefield, RI) were honored by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in baseball this past season.

 

Foley was named First Team All-Little East as a catcher. He was named teamís MVP this spring and won the regular season triple crown for the Little East, leading the league in batting average (.459), RBI (44) and home runs (11). He played in 34 games, starting all of them. He batted .453 (53-for-117), with 43 runs scored, 53 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 45 RBI. He registered a .872 slugging percentage, a .515 on-base percentage and a .988 fielding percentage.

 

 

 Junior catcher Matt Foley

 

Rogers was named First Team All-Little East as an outfielder. He played in 32 games, starting all of them. He batted .379 (44-for-116) with 23 runs scored, 44 hits, 10 doubles, five homers, 34 RBI and two stolen bases. He registered a .595 slugging percentage, a .405 on-base percentage and a .979 fielding percentage.

 

 

 Senior right fielder Pat Rogers

 

Cummiskey, the ace of the pitching staff all season, was named Second Team All-Little East as a pitcher. He appeared in eight games, starting all of them, and was 6-1 with 40 strikeouts in 54.1 innings pitched. Cummiskey hurled three complete games on the season. He ranked first on the team and fourth in the league in ERA.

Vigeant was named Second Team All-Little East as a second baseman. He played in 34 games for the Anchormen, starting all of them. He batted .309 (42-for-136), with 36 runs scored, 42 hits, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 14 RBI and five stolen bases. He registered a .390 slugging percentage, a .360 on-base percentage and a .962 fielding percentage. He recorded and a team-best 73 assists.

 

 

 Freshman second baseman Shaun Vigeant

 

Douglas was named the Little East Conference Co-Rookie of the Year. He played in 32 games, starting all of them. He batted .400 (50-for-125) with 31 runs scored, 50 hits, five doubles, nine RBI and four stolen bases. He registered a .440 slugging percentage, a .469 on-base percentage a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Head Coach Scott Virgulakís Anchormen finished the season with a 21-13 record overall and a 9-5 mark (second place tie) in the Little East.
