RIC MOURNS THE LOSS OF FORMER HEAD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
MIKE KELLEY

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College was saddened to learn that former Head Women's Basketball Coach Mike Kelley passed away earlier this week after a long illness.

 

Kelley guided the Anchorwomen for five seasons from 1998-03. He led RIC to a 17-9 overall record and reached the semifinals of the Little East Conference Tournament in 1999.

 

 

 

Prior to coming to RIC, Kelley was a legendary coach at both North Kingstown High School and West Warwick High School. He compiled a 60-21 record in three seasons at North Kingstown from 1995-98. Kelley coached at West Warwick H.S. from 1983-95, compiling a 211-77 record and winning the Rhode Island Class A State Championship in 1991 and 1992. WWHS was a Division champion under his guidance in 1988, '89, '91 and '93.

 

He was also a longtime educator, finishing his career at Bishop Hendricken High School.
